Hello, I bought a new MBP 3 days ago (Friday night), however not the stock model and it hasn't ship yet nor register (ordered via guest account). Am I elligible for the free upgrade to Lion? Or do I have to pay 30 dollars? While they are peanuts for OS (at least for someone who used to pay Microsoft a fortune for every new OS), I will feel a little bit rip-off for not getting it 2-3 days!

The uptodate program has not yet been announced...

I found this on macrumors.com frontpage under the Lion related article:
Apple did not announce specific release date for Mac OS X Lion, but narrow down the launch window to the month of July.Customers who purchase a Mac between today and the Lion launch in July will get the upgrade free from the App Store.
So this is just a rumor?

So I am screwed? Or does the warranty and generally speaking the purchase starts after they ship the item? (I hope too much :p)

1 year warranty/Applecare, etc. usually starts from ship date. What I don't understand is that you are on MR talking about 10.7 Lion which everyone on here pretty well knew would be announced on Monday and released in either June or July. And yet you ordered on Friday instead of waiting till at least Monday to have more info. Typically Apple honors all machines purchased after the announcement so they don't cannibalize their sales for 2 months.

1. I personally would wait until the uptodate program was announced, not just the keynote, to order.

2. Unless you want a SL restore disc to be able to revert in the event you don't like Lion, or you really need a new Mac in the next 3-7 weeks, wouldn't you just wait till the machine shipped with 10.7 preloaded.
