I have the ipad pro 2020. Is there a benefit in buying a 3.0 type C vs a 2.0 type C cable.? I understand for file transfering there is a difference in speed, but what about charging? What version is shipped in the box? Thanks

The one shipped in the box is USB-C 3.0 I believe.

No, it's 2.0. They aren't really meant for data transfer, just charging, but they can be used for USB data in an emergency, but 2.0 is pretty slow.

There is no difference for charging. USB-C to C can either be 100 watts (20 volts at 5 amps) or 60 watts (20 volts at 3 amps). The iPad Pro charges at up to 30 watts (15 volts at 2 amps), so any cable that's C to C definitely handles the full charging of the iPad Pro.

No, the key point is charging wires and data wires are separate and don't affect each other. Your options are (ignoring Thunderbolt) USB 2.0 or 3.0 data capability, and 3 A or 5 A charging capability. You can get cables in any of these 4 combinations.
