Hi,

does anyone have experience playing 720p .mkv files on either notebooks?
I want to know if both configurations are able to play them without dropping frames in VLC or Quicktime with the right codecs..

The Mac Mini handles 1080p videos perfectly, so either should be good enough.

well, I tend to believe it doesn't if you look at the last post from a guy named Rimmer in this thread http://www.123macmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=80481

So basicly I'd like to know more user experience. Also It would help to know if graphic card can be a bottle neck or not in a macbook. I think that on my windows machine if I play 720p .mkv (x.264) in vlc it tends to mainly use processor power. Actually I can't tell that for sure, let alone for a mac?

I can't really answer your question but maybe if you change your thread title you will get more replyes. There has been so many Macbook vs. Macbook Pro that maybe people see the title and don't even want to know what the thread is about because a lot of them are the same.

I've put a few 1080p trailers through my BlackBook amd they've played without issue, well not that I've noticed anything untoward.
