Given how long we have been waiting for a home redesign I am not complaining!

Wondering though do apps and widgets still wrap from the top?

Unfortunately, yes, they still do.

I’m so disappointed. Home screen icons that don’t wrap from the top was literally the only thing I wanted from iOS 14.

I was looking for a much improved home screen management and was hoping to see ALL financial and shopping apps put into Wallet with categories in there to access. Same with Apple TV app for all streaming apps, etc. And Home for automation. Felt like those two alone would consolidate 60% or more of my apps into three apps.

I thought if Home and Wallet had app tabs you could library all that in there.

The first app I write for ios 14 will be a widget that is just a resizeable blank space so you can put it at the top of your home screen and force your app icons toward the bottom :)

That’d be perfect. Better than creating a ton of “blank” bookmarks in order to push the icons to the bottom of the screen.

So ridiculous what we’re forced to do just to put our icons where we’d like. Sheesh.

In all seriousness, I’m pretty sure I’ll *just* have widgets on my main screen (other than the doc), and use the new app library (or whatever they call it) for everything else. I always use search to load apps anyway.

It is infuriating. Is it laziness or do Apple genuinely think that wrapping from the top on these huge phones is a good idea?

I was hoping that someone would come up with a blank transparent widget!

So black screen with 4 apps at the bottom? That would get boring pretty quick for me.
Edit: Actually, thinking about it it could work great if you add one or 2 widgets in the mix.

I don’t think that would work. The space would need to be linked to an app, as these are not widgets on their own, meaning accidentally tapping said blank space would take you to the app. Secondly, you would also need to create a wallpaper to match, unless you can create a 100% transparent widget, and even if you can, problem 1 still stands.

‘Twas a joke, dude.

Just installed the beta, widgets are nice but it seems very buggy by apple beta standard so far. I'll hang on till b2 or 3 before I use it properly

The other similar thing I noticed is you cannot put a 2 block wide widget in the center top. It always sucks it to the closest side. Not sure what happens on the sides. Will have to test if it sucks them to the top and bottom.
