Do imac's need to be grounded?

I've had my sweet new 20" intel imac for aboput two months now & just moved to a new (old) house that has the old 2 prong elec outlets (no grounds), so i plugged in my imac and turned it on and the background keeps fading in & out, the window that's open keeps getting a light blue tint to it and i can't do anything when it gets that tint, also my mouse is constantly making a clicking sound! Very frustrating, it still works, i just have to put up with this weird light show that goes on.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Also, i did have an electrician come by to verify that enough volts where streaming through my outlet, and i did move my imac into the kitchen to a grounded outlet and it worked fine so maybe it does have to do with a grounded outlet? If anyone can help I would be most grateful otherwise i got to lug this thing to the apple store which i don't want to do.

I would assume that you need grounding. Try using one of those 3 prong adapters and connect the grounding lead to the screw on the outlet. If it helps call it good, otherwise, there is something else screwed on the outlet. Voltage may be good, just not the Amperage.

The background fades in and out, and some windows (maybe the one your mouse is over?) acquire to a light blue tint... That sounds like Expose to me. Yeah, it probably needs to be grounded. Maybe the wiring for the outlet is just defective, but you haven't seen that because you haven't plugged in anything that takes up that much power?

Yeah you would need to ground it.

When I go on holidays to mainland Europe and connect my Macbook Pro to the old style 2 pin sockets it does some strange things to my Mac. There is this weird feeling off the machine. I think computers are more prone to problems if there electrical source is not grounded.

Does anyone know if it does any damage?
