I have an iPad 8 which I'm very happy with. I was curious what the highest resolutions on YouTube were. I came across this video:
which I can play at 4320P or 8K on my computer (albeit not super smooth). My iPad does not even show that resolution in the menu for that video. It's highest is 2160P 4K. I'm not knocking the iPad and I realize that those high resolutions are overkill on an iPad. I was just curious that 8K was not an option on it.

Took forever just to get over 1080p on iOS devices, i beleive its something to do with a certain codec apple needs to support.

I might be a limitation of the Youtube app. Google is torturously slow with improving their app.

Checking on M1 Mac VP9 YouTube it allows 4320P playback but haven't seen any 4320P HDR ones, but there are ample VP9 2160P HDR examples.

The iPad Mini 6 (A15) YouTube app can only show the same at 2160P, but it also allows ample 2160P HDR playback.
