Do not have my own wireless router...in trouble???

Hello all, my apologies if this has been addressed already, I haven't seen anything about it so far though. My issue is this, I do not have a wireless router in my apartment, I have access to wifi but by connecting to one of my neighbors routers. From everything that I have read, in order to use customize on 1.1.4 (which I have) I'm going to need to do some manipulation via my PC and then download to my iphone using wifi. My questions are these: 1) Is there anyway I can get customize to work without using my pc? 2) Will not having a wireless router significantly limit what I am able to do with my newly jailbroken iphone? (i.e. do many programs require you to have access to your pc via a wireless router?) I'm still very wet behind the ears so my apologies if these are obvious questions and/or if they have already been addressed. Also any additional tips or info about what apps to get, where to get them, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
 
If you have a wireless card in your mac you can setup a p2p network and use SSH to get into your iPhone to do whatever you need.
 
I actually have a PC, it does have wireless on it though, can I make it work? And what exactly is RSS? I keep hearing about it I think its about time I figure out what it is.
 
You can SSH into the phone on your neighbor's network if both your phone and computer are on that network. All you need is the IP address of that network, which your phone will display.

I thought I saw somewhere that you can also use SSH with bluetooth. If your computer has bluetooth, you could also try that. This is, of course, assuming I didn't see wrong and that you can, in fact, use bluetooth with SSH.
 
I got RSS working thanks a lot peoples, I really don't know what I'm doing though. I installed customize but it's completely empty. Is this how it's supposed to be? If so where do I go to get background images, sliders, icons, etc?
 
I think you mean SSH, not RSS, two completely different things. As far as customize i dont know, i use summerboard. If you really dont know anything, i would recommend that instead, its much simpler(as far as i know).
 
Just to clarify:

SSH - Stands for "Secure Shell". It is a network protocol allowing data to be securely transferred between two devices/computers.

RSS - Stands for "Really Simple Syndication". RSS is a type of web feed for frequently updated content. It is often used in blogs, news websites, etc.
 
You can get a VERY basic router extremely cheap. Even a B router should give you acceptable speeds. If you can afford an iPhone, you can afford a router.
