Okay, my iphone stopped charging a few weeks ago. it died and then refused to charge on my mac or wall charger. i took it out of its case (which i never do) and brought it to my pc, plugged it in (finally it made a noise like it was recognized and being charged) and placed it on top of the pc tower. it fell off the tower and cracked. Never charged.
i took it into the apple store to a genius, thinking they would be understanding and maybe could just replace my battery....
they told me that they had to replace the entire phone but could not because of the superficial crack.
they claim i have to pay 256$ to get a new phone.
my questions are as follows:
1) if i paid the 256$ will they give me the new iphone 3gs?
2) can i go to these asians and get my screen fixed for 90$ and then bring it back and get them to replace it OR will the genius' recognize me or have the problem in their system?
3) is this problem normal or even fair? because i am incredibly pissed off by apples coverage... i understand when the screen is cracked and then the light does not turn on then fair enough you would have to pay to get it fixed... but the issue is a hardware issue which had NOTHING to do with the crack in the screen.... i am seriously debating writing a letter to the paper because i can't figure out how to complain on the apple website.
