Looking at some pics of 12 pro iPhones to 15 Pro, the camera bumps and size have increased massively.

Looking at the 15/15+ (and previous), they are much smaller. Why?

Is there a technical reason for this, better light etc? Or just to differentiate between Pro and non Pro, and also to keep up with Samsung etc as perceived bigger “must be better”.

Both the Pro and no Pro 15 now have a 48MP

I’m not a camera guru so don’t understand the ins and outs, but just seems to me they are making them loud and proud.

It may be a technical limitation. Personally I wish Apple thickened the phone with more battery so the camera is flushed to the back.

Who wouldnt want to double mAh that results in doubled battery life?

Less discharge & recharge cycle = longer battery health.

I would support this if it were a separate product line . . . think Apple iPhone Ultra.

The technical reason is larger sensors need larger and thicker lenses to maintain the same aperture and equivalent focal length.

iPhone 15/Plus has a smaller sensor than Pro/Max, hence the smaller camera bump.

Apple is trying to squeeze as much battery, camera, display into the chassis as possible - all while considering weight. Do you seriously think the camera bumps are just for show?
