Do the new SL HDTV Resolutions fix the overscan problem?

For TV's that don't have overscan control, does the new resolutions that snow leopard gives (480p, 720p, 1080p) fix the problem of either overscanning or underscanning the image? Overscanned the menu bar and 3/4's the dock is cut off, underscanned you have a 1" wide band all around the image.

Anyone know?

Do you have Mirroring turned on or off? When I have mirroring turned on, the OS X screen doesn't fully fill my HDTV.

I run it in clamshell mode and it completely fills my Samsung screen.

No. They don't. It's the same as in Leopard. How hard is it to implement an overscan tool like in Plex? Or at least allow you to fake a video signal like the Apple TV or Windows Media Center?

The over/underscan issue has existed for years, and all because neither Apple nor the TV manufacturer (in my case Samsung) will issue a software fix. Pathetic.

No, I'm on a Mac Mini so with only one display (the TV hooked up) there is no mode to 'mirror' (so it's off)

Yes, this is a lame problem. Most newer TV's let you adjust it there. I guess with more and more TV's fixing it (and overscan itself going the way of the dodo) there really isn't much incentive for Apple to fix this.
