My own personal Air Play connected to a Denon hi-fi is pure hit and miss. Sometimes Air Play likes to play, other times, it just won't play at all. Very flaky.

A restaurant owner recently ask me about Air Play.

I could'nt recommend it. The man has enough stress on his plate running a restaurant beside his music system cr@pping out on him every second day.

Would you have recommended Air Play?

Airplay seems totally unfit for a commercial use. I mean, if it is sort of a modern jukebox type of application where guests can airplay their favorites, how do you manage a queue? And of course, the license considerations.

If the intent is for the owner to have more dynamic control over the mood, there are plenty of commercial options that can fit that bill.

Airplay with an all Apple infrastructure is pretty reliable in my experience, but when you start adding third party "Airplay" compatible devices, who knows.

So what is the most reliable setup for someone who wants Air Play in their home / office. They have a computer with iTunes installed along with a router then what?
