The Apple website is currently not showing any configuration options for the 24" iMac. Usually you can explore all the options before preorders start, and that is possible for the iPads, but for the iMacs we can just see the three base options.

I suspect that they just haven't set this up yet, and I'm sure nobody will know for sure, but it just occurred to me that I could go to order on Friday and find that the spec I want isn't available.

I suppose it would be odd if there were no options available (even Touch ID, ethernet), which further makes me think it's just a blip.

Has this happened before?

Don’t worry it is configurable — all options are here: https://www.apple.com/imac-24/specs/
Yes, I know that it is configurable. This site has even shared the prices (although they are in dollars so I’ve had to work out the price for me based on other macs).

But why are these not showing in the “view pricing” section? Usually (and in the iPad section) I can select the options and see the final prices, but for the iMacs none of this is there.

Im assuming it will be fine on Friday but just wondered whether this may be a sign that not everything will be available on Friday.

The highest spec model is also a bit odd, as it really is just the middle one with the next ssd up. Seems strange for them to have that as a specific model (although I think they have done similar before).

At M1 launch there wasn’t a 16GB config available I don’t think? All custom build? in store however there was a maxed out version (2TB/16GB) so there may be something similar. What config are you thinking of?

I’ll be getting a maxed out one, 16gb/2tb and also want the numeric keyboard.

I expect it to be there to order on Friday, but the website just got me wondering whether some options may be delayed.

Just have to wait and see I suppose.

Ah man if you didn't say the custom keyboard too I'd say you might get lucky in a store... best of luck!

To be honest, I’m expecting a relatively long lead time (probably into June), which isn’t a major problem for me. I just like to get my order in so that I have a good idea of the expected date.

That's a good point - the M1 Mini pre-order had the 16GB as a CTO/BTO option and the same in the Apple Stores.

I noticed there were very few 16GB versions in store and delivery delays due to the special order of the 16GB version.

I am getting the base model because my M1 Mini base w/ 8GB runs cold, no fans, and circles around anything I do with it.

Hoping I can order: $30 GB Ethernet option + Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad with the base iMac in BLUE on pre-order Friday.

I was hoping for the moderator to put a sticky up for the iMac pre-order event....
