I wouldn't see the point. You'll rarely have it in a position where the cable can be snagged, as most people will use a dock by their computer, or be charging it in one fixed place where the cable can be kept out of the way.
Laptops are different - you often need to charge on the go and it is more likely to be scenarios wher the cable puts the computer at risk. It's very rare you'd need to charge a phone and use it at the same time.

Phones are very light compared to laptops, so even if they do come out with a MagSafe 30-pin connector, the phone would fly off the desk because it obviously lacks in weight compared to a laptop.
One of Apple's recent patents suggests that the iPhone will be charged by induction. Same patent suggests that this will also be the means by which data is transfered. And I don't remember where I saw this, maybe no one has seen the bottom of the device, but it has been suggested that there will be no external connectors to mar the finish of the device. Induction will be a nice way to accomplish this. And assuming this powercast business isn't a farce, we're about to see this kind of power connection a lot more frequently.
In mythbuster they found out that it takes 1000 gaus to demagnetise a credit card. I wouldn't worry too much about a magsafe connector.
I get your point, but I was actually thinking of the metal money clip on my wallet. It was more the annoyance of having things stick to your phone, like a loose paperclip in your pocket or something.
I would say it is almost half as bad as dropping a MB!!!
...1/3 as bad as dropping a MBP! I think a magsafe connector would actually be more dangerous- if you actually snagged the cord it might pull the phone along the counter, but then when it snapped back it would release the phone and send it across the room! Not a good idea in my book- give me a dock instead of a $1,000 iPhone!!! ($1,000 is derived from having to purchase it two times as the first time it went flying off onto the tile kitchen floor!!!
