I would like to get some sort of dust cover for my new 24" iMac. Are any of you using a dust cover? If you are where did you get it and what is your opinion of it? Right now I am using the foam sleeve it came in but it is a pain to put it on and take it off and it looks awful sitting on my desk.

Why not a carefully sized piece of cloth to drape. I don't see why you would want a sleeve type thing as it would be frustrating putting it on and off. There's nothing like a bit of old bed sheet!:D

If you would clean a little better, and upgrade the air filter in the air conditioner -- you might not have as big a problem.

Of course those Filtrete allergen filters for the HVAC are pricey. But do cut down a bit on dust.

How many days is your iMac off?

Is this your first, I can understand why but I wouldn't bother. Just pick up a Duster. I have the Mini California Duster for my iMac/HomeTheater.

you really dont need to....its like when you get a new iPod or just a new phone you always say to yourself "ill keep the plastic on the screen to protect it" and then a week later you dont give a crap.

i use the sleeve that came with it when i got it, but i rarely even use that after the first two days.

That's like making your iMac ware a burka - would you like it?

Let it be! Naked as Jonathan Ive made it! Chin stuck out and looking for a good time!

No I don't cover mine - it's always on but any light dust sheet would do if really dusty atmosphere.

Well here in Nevada it does tend to get real dusty. I admit it is such a pain putting on and taking off that dust sleeve though. I think some sort of thing to drape over it would be a lot easier. Maybe a cotton towel? Maybe I'll just get over it and leave it uncovered.

dust cover

back when i was eyeing the snow white 24" imac, i did some snooping around to find purveyors of dust covers. ended up waiting (very patiently) for the new imacs, and after my purchase, revisited a dust cover seller's site to see whether the new covers would fit the new 'puters.

and they do. so sez the web site.

http://www.radtech.us/Products/ScreensavRziMac.aspx

the same dust covers can be found on amazon. just enter "radtech" and "imac" in the search field.

i ended up ordering from the radtech site, since there's a 10% coupon, which is probably going to expire soon.

the new imac is 56.9 cm wide, and the 24" dust covers are 57 cm wide. the new imacs are slimmer than the old ones, so these older dust covers should fit just fine.

btw, i've been lurking on these boards for the last several months, and i mussay 'thank you' to all the posters who've provided useful information about all things apple. waiting for the new imac would've been full of wild fear  and dark loathing  without the data+speculation on these forums.
