Hello all, I just got a new iPad Pro in late March, it's the iPad Pro 11" from 2018. I noticed a few days ago, that at the top there are two marks - one is the FaceTime camera, but I don't know what the other one is, if it's meant to be there or is a defect. You know how, if you look at the top bezel of the screen under bright light, there are 3 greenish-blueish circles left of the FaceTime circle, and one of the greenish blue circles to the right of the FaceTime camera (I think they are sensors)? The mark is in the first greenish-blue circle left of the FaceTime camera, yet it is not in the center of the circle, it's near the lower right edge. I tried to take a photo of it below. I am fairly sure it is not a scratch, as the surface is smooth. Could it be something under the screen? Is it a scratch and I can't feel it? Is it part of the sensor? If you have in iPad Pro 11, do you have two marks where the FaceTime camera is or just the camera mark that's noticeable to the eye?

I don't think the first circle to the left of the camera is Face ID, I can cover that circle (with the mark) and the camera to the right and Face ID works. If I cover the two left most circles it says "Camera covered".

These iPads have like 4 microphones installed. And, they are pretty good at recording too. Voice over works pretty well, and the quality is good enough to start with, you can edit the audio a little bit and it sounds even better.

According to apple’s diagram on faceid (https://www.apple.com/au/iphone-xs/face-id/), I would say the two dark dots on the left are the infrared camera and flood illuminator. There is another dark dot on the right of the facetime camera which is the dot projector. The light coloured, smaller dot on the right is a mic.

Edit: here is an ipad pro diagram showing the sensors https://www.cnet.com/pictures/see-the-new-ipad-pro-2018/11/
Okay I must say it: Told ya :D

From the iPad Pro diagram it looks like it is proximity sensor. Note they are in a different order than the iPhone page you linked to. It is NOT Face Id related, I confirmed that with testing- Incan cover it completely and face id still works.

Wait, are you perhaps talking about the front facing camera? The one you arrowed on your picture on the first post is the front facing/selfie camera and next to the mic.

No, it's immediately to the left of the front-facing mic.

If that's the camera, right to the right of it is a 'hole' that I can actually feel the indentation/hole - is that the microphone?

It threw me, initially, as earlier versions of the iPad didn’t have a mic on the front. At first I thought I had managed to scratch the screen some how...

Yes I checked at the Apple Store yesterday, the Pro 11's looked exactly like mine. The dot with the white dot in it is the camera as far as I can tell, the mic is to its right, but more importantly there is nothing wrong with it.
