I don't install Beta iOS, however I am tempted to see the new features of iOS 17.2 but its still beta. How safe is it use beta versions of iOS in your latest iPhones?

The new features are minimal between minor versions of iOS imo. It's not worth it. Yes , you have some new features + bug fixes, but you might also have some new bugs introduced with those new features. It's better to leave the testing to the pros.

Although there is nothing on my iPhone I could not afford to lose (because it exists in the cloud or is backed up elsewhere) I do not use beta versions of iOS.

But…that's where my iPad comes in. Primarily my iPad is used for reading in bed and there is nothing on it of any importance whatsoever. So, whenever there is a major beta (like the next version of iOS) I will use the iPad to get a 'preview' of what is coming.

If there are any bugs or issues then it all happens to a device that isn't being used for anything important. By the time that iOS launches I've already had experience with it and there really isn't much of a concern installing on my iPhone.

I don't do betas when both iPhone and iPad are on the same version of iOS though. I don't see a point in that.
