Do you like this icon ?

Dear MacRumors friends,

As it happens sometimes I can't decide the icon for my new soon-to-be-released Group Mail! app.

Which one do you prefer (None is also considered a valid answer) ?
I prefer the one with the shadow even if I know that a stamp can't have a shadow

Any comment is appreciated!

The shadow one. Looks richer.

Also, you could just say that that side of the stamp is peeling off slightly thus creating a shadow

I'll definitely go with the right one, without the shadow. Maybe it's just because I'm also in to graphical design but I'm so annoyed when the logic fales. As you pointed out with the stamp not being able to, in real life, leave a shadow.

Anyway - Good looking icon and good luck with the app! Will it be free or paid?

At first I liked the shadowed one, but the more I looked at them, the more I liked the more realistic one. Either way it's a good icon. Well done!

No shadow. If you do go with the shadow, I'd make it more subtle. Also, it it 90°? If not, I'd switch it to 90, as that's consistent with iPhone HIG.

You could lose the shadow and emboss the stamp a teeny bit.

I don't think anyone would notice the shadow (or lack of shadow) at the size of the icon. Both look great.

I like the shadow.

Also, you may want to consider leaving the 'glassing' off and using it as is. The natural paper texture might get ruined by that effect.

I'm trying some little variations on the shadow to make it more natural because on the little iPhone version, a bit of "separation" between the stamp and the paper looks better.

@fillilutten this app will be paid $1.99-$2.99 but if you need simple group email take a look at our ABContacts Lite app. It's free with iAds and has elementary group email and group text.

Personally, I like the icon with the shadow. I find it better looking. However, the 2nd icon seems more logical. But I don't see a real problem with a stamp that has a shadow, so go for it. I'm sure the variations of the shadow will also look great
