This is my biggest complaint with the iPad's virtual keyboard. It would make editing much easier for me if there were some arrow keys available - I find using the finger/magnifying glass slows me down!

And a row of numbers along the top also please.

Just make the current A-Z keys a little bit thinner to fit the extra number row in.

I miss them most when I'm in Numbers. It's so much simpler to just touch the cell I want, but I've had years of training to use the arrow keys!

When I want arrow keys the most is when I'm trying to select large chunks of text. I keep getting the selection cursor close to where I want, only to have my finger slip and the selection cursors disappear, and I have to start over again!

I miss my arrow keys like the touch of a woman. If not a little more.

On the other hand, not enough to type on a laptop instead. Swings and roundabouts. It's possible I might just enjoy myself too much if they somehow add better editing functionality anytime soon.

Hold down the button on the ipad keyboard that has the exclamation mark/comma, it will type in an apostrophe.

that's not a key, that's an idiotic workaround. Who uses exclamations more than apostrophes in english?

I meant to say dedicated key.

Only when i am correcting a typo.

Same here. I'm really bad at tapping my finger where I want the cursor to move to correct a typo. Usually takes me a few tries to get it where I want.

Look the answer is so easy and so obvious .

Apple.... (steve jobs) please stop being just a cock!

Allow 3rd parties to design alternative keyboard layouts (as they did on my old palm device and others)

That way people who think Apple are always right can use the default one and others can download alternate 3rd party ones if they wish.

Just stop being cocks and allow the users to have the choice.

It's such an easy solution.

Just ignore them and type through. With the exception of possessive, the iPad will auto correct.

As to lack of arrow key, try double tapping and retype. Much faster. Arrow keying on the PC bad enough, no need to bring this crap to the iPad.

But I guess you would also be happy if Apple did allow 3rd parties to design alternate keyboard layouts for those who would like it?

One thing i discovered that helps on most anything except searches and URL typing is to zoom in on the word and then put your finger on the word. Bigger target.

You've asked two different questions:
1) Do you miss arrow keys;
2) Would you like arrow keys.
I don't miss them, buit I might like them.

Wow, so it does, thanks for that! Just been experimenting with other letters, numbers and symbols to find there are lots of variations. Accents on letters can be added so easily this way. :)

There is one on the numbers keyboard..... Unless you hold it down, then there are some variations. :D

Apostophe key

Hold down the button on the ipad keyboard that has the exclamation mark/comma, it will type in an apostrophe.

Even better, you don't have to hold down the key and choose the apostrophe, just quickly swipe up on the comma and it gives you an apostrophe! Hope that helps, it's been a huge help for me!
