I bought this elks on bumper case and camouflage strap and it’s nice but now the phone won’t charge as the Apple stock charger can’t get a good grip due the size of the bumper case.

I was thinking if a bumper is needed. I’ve had the watch for almost a year now and no scratches yet.

Should I keep it basic?

I don’t have an Apple Watch case myself, but I know a few people who use one and they don’t have issues for charging. Maybe it’s only an issue with your bumper case. Regarding if a case is useful at all, it’s up to you. I used extensively and almost 24/7 my AW for the past two years. I can see very light scratches on the screen, but other than that it’s in a very good condition. I would have better protection with a case, but I think that AW is a device aimed to be as minimalistic and light as possible, and a case would make it much heavier and ticker. It’s up to you to decide between perfect condition but with a heavy watch, or decent condition with a light device on your wrist.

I’m going back to stock because it doesn’t charge. It works best that way.
