I have been getting connection error messages while trying to add a 3G data plan on my iPad 3G.

I am only add the data plan if I am on a wifi connection.

Is this normal?

It says I am not subscribe to a data plan and asks me to subscribe. Than I click add now but it doesn't let me do this. I can only do this when I am on wifi.

I find this disturbing. What if I am not around wifi and need to add a data plan. I have 5 bars and am in a 3G area. Is there something wrong?

No. But you need the 3G to be turned on.

Well tha. Something is wrong with my SIM card. Cause I can't sign up fir a data plan while on 3G. I see the data icon spinning next to the 3G symbol, and than it gives me a connection error.

I can sign up via wifi.
Just kinda of annoying.

Make sure you've set cellular data to "on". It takes it a while, but be patient.

Yes the cellular data is on. I have been patient for a month now.

I will just do a restore. Set it up as new and see if this will enable me to sign up for a data plan via 3G only.

Maybe the AT&T signal is too poor in your area?
