iPod Do you notice a Sound Quality difference in your car Ipod vs MP3 CD

If so... what model of Ipod do you have... and of course this only applies to direct connection trough your stereo not FM transmitters...

Even if you have experience with different ipods share it with us...

I have a 1G ipod touch direct connect through a fairly new pioneer head unit. I'm no audio guru but I have a pretty nice stereo and I can't tell a difference between that and an MP3 cd. If I had to choose I would use the ipod, just because my stereo has a really good interface with it, easy to use, compared to an older stereo I had where cycling through artists was a real pain. For anyone interested, I'm using a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT, great stereo and has bluetooth calling. There have been a few threads about this particular stereo, and I fully endorse it. And no, I don't work for pioneer.

Nope. But I still have the factory speakers in my car(1996 Merc sable). I don't think you would notice any difference from mp3 to lossless with just a new deck, you would need good speakers as well...

I don't notice a difference between an MP3 CD and my iPhone 3G in my Mom's Jeep Cherokee. But the majority of my music is encoded in Apple Lossless.

Do you notice that normally the volume is lower and music sounds just a bit less powerful when playing trough the IPOD rather than the exact same song in cd?

Depends on the encoding of the MP3 CD, and the encoding of the exact same song on the iPod. Are you hooking up the iPod with a tape deck adapter or an auxiliary input?

Many more questions to answer before someone can objectively give you a relevant answer.

My iPhone sounds better through my car stereo's auxiliary jack with ALAC, as compared to 320kbs MP3.

yes yes yes!!

i notice that my old ipod mini (2nd gen) is A LOT worse quality than my ipod video (1st gen) which is ALOT worse than MP3.. i guess its the encoders on the ipods themselves that are the culprits.

the volume is also quite noticeable.
