Apple has updated the Classic Buckle models with a new design.

The new design has two rows of stitching on the outside, which looks quite elegant. However, it also has brown leather lining on the inside, which is a bit distracting. I've noticed that Apple is now afraid to show too much of the brown lining in marketing pics, and hence why they're only marketing the brown Hermes models, as they're brown throughout and less distracting.

I have an embarrassing amount of watch straps around my house to compare, and I thought the old version felt a little cheap. I haven't tried on the new version, but I saw it under glass in the store, and I thought it looked nicer, so I'd likely choose that one.

I have the original and love it but it may take seeing the new one in hand to be certain. The stitching changes do add a little quality look to it that the original didn't have.

I'm guessing now that the new band is lined it should last a bit longer too.

I like the new one. Would that brown inner lining be even visible when wearing it?

I actually came to this forum to bitch a little.

The new Classic Buckle looks way better than the one my Watch came with. I might have to make a trip down to an Apple Store and compare. I didn't think the quality of the original was too great, perhaps Apple felt the same way.

I'll go against the grain here. I bought the classic buckle when I ordered my AW and I prefer the original. I like simplicity and I don't like the two tone leather and I don't like the rounded end they have gone with. I prefer it being squared off with no stitching.

I much prefer the look of the old one. I tried one on a while ago but didn't buy it; I now really wish I had. The stitching makes the new one look really ordinary in my opinion. I'm cross with myself for not buying the old one when I had the chance but I guess Apple have just saved me a hundred and thirty quid.

I wish I had waited another month and purchased the new one. It's almost like Apple had a lot of feedback suggesting that the original isn't up to scratch for the price and so they redesigned it.

Although it's unreasonable of me since I am out of my 14-day window, I feel like taking mine back and telling them this.

You definitely should try that. I was planning on doing the same but when I went to the Apple Store and saw the new band, I actually changed my mind and much prefer the original classic buckle. It really has no stitching, like Hermes black band does. It gives the look from far away that there is stitching but just think it looks cheaper than the original one. I feel like the original one looks cleaner, especially where the band meets the connector as it now has a bigger bulge.

If anyone is interested, i have a 1 week old original classic buckle, only worn a few times (wore sport bands the rest of the time) so it's a close to new as you can get without being brand new. I'd be interested in trading it for the new version of the black classic buckle. So if anyone is bummed they missed out on the old classic buckle, lets help each other out!

Has anybody's original classic buckle leather softened at all? I wonder if the change was due to complaints about how stiff and un-leather like it was.

I have an original black classic buckle. Mine is very soft and supple. I like it quite a bit. Haven't seen the new one in person, so I have no opinion. The new saddle brown buckle, however, is very sharp and will likely pick one up at some point.

My original classic buckle squeaked a lot and made a rattling noise so Apple replaced it, and the replacement has been perfect; the adapter is flush to the watch, no rattling noise and no squeaking noises, and answering your question, soft.
