I upgraded from the 15 pro to the 16 pro despite the lack of major updates.

Truthfully, I’m loving the 16 pro more than I ever loved my 15 pro.

The cameras are definitely improved, and I am a content creator who does 85% of my filming on iPhone.

The phone feels heavier which just feels nicer to me too idk. It’s not logical but in the last 5 years I’ve had the iPhone 12 Pro (loved), 14 Pro (hated), 15 Pro (indifferent), 16 Pro (loving).

The main gripe I had with the 14 pro was it’s gross stainless steel sides. I had the purple colorway and the coating on the stainless steel felt really grimy and sticky. That phone was heavy and would get very hot.

The 12 Pro was very clean and reliable. Had it in slate or space gray or whatever they called it that year.

I had the 15 pro in natural titanium and I really enjoyed the new titanium build and the action button, but I didn’t really have strong feelings about that phone.

I just got the 16 pro in white a couple of weeks ago and for some reason, I am loving this phone. The cameras are definitely better than last years. The camera control button isn't amazing or anything though, I was fine with just an action button.

Also, I usually go caseless on my phones. So after 1 year, my 15 pro was scratched, grimy, and the battery was at 86%.

Besides that, I am really enjoying the iphone 16 pro even though I can’t put my finger on to why… Anyone else upgrade from the 15 pro and feel the same way about their 16 pro?

Had I have done so I think the addition of the 5x lens would be enough. Once you get used to that focal length you rarely use anything else.

I feel the opposite as you OP.... So I didn't want to upgrade, but my 15PM fell on its face and a few pixels went dead... I was going to live with it, but it was too noticeable when watching media. I took it to Apple and the genius told me they would give me the full trade in value despite the dead pixels (as long as the screen wasn't cracked, which it wasn't)..... So it was a no-brainer to trade it in and buy the 16PM paying the difference.

I actually loved my 15PM, the lighter weight, perfect size, it was so comfy to hold with the rounded edges. the 16PM is not bad but I just feel like it doesn't offer any improvement. The camera control button is just a glorified camera shortcut button imo.... it's a very clunky and awkward implementation to use as a camera shutter button... So I basically just use it to launch the camera and then use on screen controls

I would have been perfectly happy keeping my 15PM for another year had I not messed up the screen on it.

No kidding?
That little change or is there something you simply preferred about the 13 Pro vs 16 Pro?

Yep.

Mostly too little change. I never liked the weight on the 13 Pro, and while it was lowered with the 15 Pro, they raised it back up with the 16 Pro. I don't like (care, really) the 5x lens over the 3x. The Alpine green of my 13 Pro looked worlds better than the 16 Pro colors. I don't care for the dynamic island over the notch. USB-C, however, is really nice.

I would have preferred upgrading to a standard 16 for the lower weight.

Great point about weight
I don't even like how much my 13 Mini weighs

Every day when I pick up and use my old SE1s (for podcasts around the house) I smile
They are so light and great to hold in the hand -- I really miss that

I reluctantly use the modern iPhones
Really miss something actually small and, very importantly, LIGHT WEIGHT!

I'm one of those that would buy a plastic one (5C style) if it was offered, just because of weight

I tried out the 16P, but was not impressed, so I went back to my 15P. While the battery improvement is nice, my 15P still makes it through the full day easily (with some charging done in my car with CarPlay). So I’ll see what the 17 series offers.
