If you had a case on... ignore this post.

I was in the Supermarket, had a baby in one arm, and bag in another, and was trying to flip around my phone that was upside down with one hand.

Well it slipped out and fell onto hard concete... I literally burst into tears. The phone was fine, but there was a small crack in the corner.

Can anyone empathize?:(

I dropped mine down the stairs in the away end at Stamford Bridge. It bounced down 12 feet of concrete steps (edged with that non-slip metal grill stuff) before coming to rest at the feet of an amused steward. No major damage to report – one dead pixel and a little scuff of yellow paint near the power button – and it still works perfectly.

I may or may not have been drinking.

Thats what you get for going to scummy Stamford Bridge!!

yep,
the day I got it. Slipped out of trouser pocket climbing out of car. Its been in a sleeve or a case ever since!

No, but I do remember the time I slammed mine on the floor in a rage because of a dropped call . Thank goodness it was okay.

Yes - Was pulling out of my pocket and it slipped out my fingers, falling straight onto the floor, completely shattering the screen.

Cost me £140, happy days.

I think I was fiddling with the iPod on it and it slipped out my hand, bounced merrily along on each of its corners before landing on its front and skidding along for about a metre.

Scuff on a corner and a tiny tiny tiny scratch that you can only see if the screen's off and you're looking for it. I picked it up and twittered about how relieved I was that the screen hadn't smashed  Ordered a case that week though. My heart stopped when I saw it start bouncing :(

I'd had mine less than a month when I dropped it, but luckily it was on carpet. However, that day I stopped waiting for the perfect case and started using a case I don't like (Griffin Wave, which I had foolishly bought earlier thinking it would fit DD's iPod Touch), just to have something on there.

I was at a festival in Boston with my phone in hand when my drunk friend suddenly waved his arm wildy. He hit my hand so hard my iPhone went flying over my head and landed face down on the asphalt. I thought it was surely smashed. However, a small scuff mark on the bezel and a few tiny chips in the plastic back was the only damage. Not bad for such a dramatic fall.

I know I'll regret this, but I have never dropped mine.

Lucky you my friend.

Ive not dropped it per se, however it did fall from the seat of my car from my lap because I forgot it was in my lap. I thought I had put it in my pocket. 2 scuffs. Its still not in a case. I dont care enough to buy a case.

I've never dropped it, but my wife did on saturday, distance of 3 foot onto a stone floor. No cracks, or dents, or anything. Thank God :)

Alas, I do

It was winter last year (About January) and I was walking towards my house when I came across a pot-hole full of frozen water.

I had my iPhone in my right hand checking E-Mail.

Me, being me, I decided to see what would happen if I stood on it. I stood on it, when my foot immediately lost all friction (Duh).

I landed on my backside, but worst of wall, my iPhone was just a bit further down than the rest of my right hand.

So I also landed on my iPhone, the dent in the chrome ring glints at me now.. so sad...

I also cracked the back of the casing (pretty deep too) it joins onto the 30 pin iPod connector.

Bad times

i bought a rubber cover for mine for $5 from a NYC street vendor and have a matte cover for the glass. i prefer the glossy look but having no scratches is more important.

dropped mine on concrete one time and the cover protected it. iphones are so gentle you have to be crazy not to buy any protection for it
