Prior to my first AppleWatch (S5 SS in Space Black), I would wear the venerable Casio F91 to the gym to time my workouts. It was cute and reminded me of my childhood but outside of the gym, I never bothered to wear a watch at all since I always had my phone with me.

The only watch I wear now is my AppleWatch because it always has the correct time and date and I can use it for other things besides just as a watch. I can only think to wear my old Seiko to a formal event but outside of this, it just sits there. From a utilitarian standpoint, I don't see the need for it any longer but I'm curious what you all did with your non-smartwatches.

How many of you are in the same position now? Do you still wear traditional watches and under what circumstance? Formal events? Long camping trips?

Slightly different situation. I didn’t wear watch until I had smartwatch. Now I wear AW and Garmin, both depending on my outfit.

I have a collection of around a dozen "normal" watches.
I haven't worn any of them since getting my first true smartwatch - a Pebble, many years ago.
Since my first Apple Watch - the Series 0 SS, I haven't worn another type of watch at all.

Yes. Just picked up an Apple Watch Ultra 3, finally upgrading my Series 6. However I’ve also just purchased two brand new Omega. A Planet Ocean in Blue and a Green Seamaster. I have about 8 other watches as well in my collection. Apple Watch during the work day and I work from home, go figure.

Regular watch after hours, weekends and going out.

I have an Ultra 2, SS S9, and roughly a dozen analog watches that I’ve collected over the last 20 years. Like a few other posters, I usually wear one of the Apple Watches but will sport a traditional watch for stuff like going out with the wife or special occasions.

Here are my current favorites. The Bulova was my grandfather’s.

I have recently started wearing mechnical watches again and tend to dump the Apple Watch on weekends and sometimes when I fancy wearing a traditional watch to work. Its nice to disconnect and also wear something that looks nice, rather than a bland screen on the wrist. Bought a Rolex recently and find I don't even miss the AW on the days I don't wear it.

My wife mostly stopped wearing her Apple Watch, apart from when she exercises. She even considered selling it at one point.

Smart watch to me is just for sports - or I strap it onto my other wrist when I go on walks (to count steps).

Mechanical watches however are jewellery to me - the only kind I've ever worn. I wear them every day and currently own six (one each from IWC, Sinn, Tudor, Cartier, Girard-Perregaux and Tutima).

I am actually moving away from wearing a watch, period.
But, from time to time, when I pass my watch box, I do feel a little guilty for not wearing them as often as I used to...

Which model did you buy? Were you fortunate enough to get it from a dealer or did you buy used?

No, I had 3-4 gave them away before Covid.. 2018 or 2019.

Hope I don’t get flamed but imo mechanical watches are dodo 🦤 birds.
Yea, I said it.

Btw, I had 8-track tapes and boom boxes in the 1970’s, collected vinyl records 70’s - 90’s, had 200 cassette tapes.

8-track tapes all self destructed, if you have to ask ..

Digitized all my records and cassette tapes around 2005, kept them till 2012 and off to Salvation Army, with turntable and dual cassette player.

I’m 63 now and after seeing the clutter my parents kept after their passing I swore not to be same.
Stuff is stuff, either use it or pass it on to other who will.

VHS tapes, threw all away, gave library my 60 plus DVD’s , still have 400 Blu-ray’s and UHDBRs.

I wore a Rolex Submariner for over 30 years, sold it in 2012 and didn’t wear a watch for many years.

I became a heart patient after discovering I had heart disease in 2016 and the Apple Watch with the heart monitoring function is the obvious watch for me now.

I had a couple models since 2016 and just upgraded from my Series 9 Stainless 45mm to a black Ultra 3 and that’s my Submariner now and I couldn’t be happier.

Stopped wearing them in 1998 when I got my Nokia and started wearing them again with the Series 4 in 2018.

Before the AW, I now sport the black AWU2, I was rotating between Seiko and Citizen and the Rolex Submariner my dad bought in 1967, when I was born, and he left to me. About once a week I'll throw on one of my Seiko's, Citizens or Rolex. I've got A Casio I got for beating around doing yard work or potentially damaging jobs around the house. My AWU2 will last 2+ days, I'll put it on the charger for a day or two, and swap one of the other ones in...

While I love my...traditional watches, I find I miss the information I can access with just a glance at my AWU2, especially when I'm working.

YMMV

Every time I leave the house (I normally do NOT take my iPhone with me, just when I leave town/state).

That may be ending soon, and I hope some folks here can chime in on this "development". Around here (Utah) the usual jewelry stores will no longer change your watch battery, unless you bought the watch from them specifically! The only place I can get a new battery is a shop in the mall that sells those stupid plastic "animated" wall clocks from Taiwan, and they charged me $46 for the last (possibly THE last) battery change! Is that common where you live?

Explorer II white all day (work).
Ultra2 black when I get home for running and trips around town ( easy way to make purchases ).
