do you subscribe to a mac magazine such as macworld, macaddict, etc. Is it worth getting a subscription? Which one would you get?

My favourite is the UK magazine iCreate. Very good design and layout. Very little advertising inside, and very informative.
I do not subscribe though, just buy it regurlarly

MacAddict, Macworld, and macHOME.

I receive MacConnection and one other catalog of Mac stuff.

I used to have a subscription to macworld but I would find that the issue would always arrive like a week after the news stand. By the time I got my issue I had already read it. Now I just get it at the news stand. They should reward subscribers by getting them their issue before the news stand.

I subscribe to macworld; its deafinitally cheaper to subscribe. In canada a subscription is like $30-40 and the news stand is like $12 /a issue

I subscribe to Macworld and really love the in-depth reviews and articles, not to mention all the great things it has like their hottest picks on items. Definately worth it.

I'll second the iCreate recommendation. Excellent magazine. Expensive, but it's not padded out with pages of advertising like many others.

Wow, iCreate looks very good, but I refuse to pay that much for a magazine! Macworld I used to buy before I bought my Apple computer, now I use the web to help my habit!

I may subscribe to it though soon!

I have been putting off subscribing to a mac magazine especially since I get such good information from MacEumors.

I recently bought Mac Answers (the Winter 2006 issue from MacAddict) and I am impressed so I think I will subscribe to MacAddict. The only thing that annoyed me slightly in that issue is on the .mac section they didn’t mention the backup program.

I love the mac magazines from the UK but they are really expensive here, about $14 - $15. I treat myself to them about once a year.

Its true that the Mac magazines from the UK are certainly "prettier". They are printed on a more expensive paper stock and in result have a vibrant glossier look. But if you compare the articles they are almost the same. If you like prettier pictures then Perhaps the 10x price is worth it? Magazines which are based on subjects like Photoshop and other Graphic apps are at times worth the price increase seeing that you want to see a high quality image of what they are talking about.

Thing is, get a MacWorld or MacUser magazine and check out how many pages are actually interesting content rather than advertising and then compare that amount to what you get in iCreate (plus the CD of course).

Yes it IS more expensive but once you take the above into account I think it becomes a little more reasonable. The guided walkthroughs are also excellent reference material.

somewhere between here and there.
Used to subscribe to MacWorld a long long long, time ago. I did not find it very useful after a year. :)

Great magazine if you want to get into the Macintosh World, hence the name of the magazine. ;) :)

And it also started to get expensive for the amount of information I drew from it on a monthly basis. :(

I subscribe to MacTech magazine and I learn something truly useful on every page of every issue. Once in a while I'll buy a MacWorld or MacAddict off the shelf if it looks like a good issue but for the most part I find those to be geared towards beginners and I don't like reading reviews of digital cameras month after month. MacWorld, yes I'm talking about you. MacDirectory is a nice mag for consultants. Lots of pages and very pretty to look at but lots of ads and lots of typos. Cheap cover price though.

CHICAGO!
I have had subscriptions to Addict and World and now choose to only maintain MacWorld. I recently renewed my subscription for three years for less than $50. Let's see . . . 50 divided by 36 . . . $1.39 an issue. Can't beat it, and I do prefer it to MacAddict. iCreate does look good, although I haven't seen an actual magazine in person yet. I would be concerned about shipping costs from the UK, since I live in the US. Go with MacWorld.

EDIT: Never heard of MacTech before, gonna have to check it out . . .
