I'm a huge fans of drones (obviously) and Apple products. Do you think Apple will ever come out with their own drone or am I dreaming? I feel like the market is so big, and they have the fan base.

I am not sure they will now that GoPro pulled out of the market. I think that if they do decide to they will acquire someone like DJI rather than build new and I suspect even if they are considering it, they are waiting to see how legislation begins to shape/restrict usage - when the basic competence requirements come in, then the market will decline as fewer people buy them on impulse.

Just my speculation...

I agree. I would see a decent quality drone, but very expensive for what you get. Standard complaints on how other drones have better specs for less, and how other drones have had a feature for years before Apple introduces it. That kind of stuff. Plus, even then, it'll either sell very well or Apple will pull it within a year, year and a half. Remember the iPod HiFi?

Very good response! Thank you. Here was my thinking...with GoPro pulling out, it kinds of leaves somewhat of an empty void. I'd assume DJI would cost a fortune so I thought they could possibly come out with their own. But Apple definitely doesn't have a shortage of cash, and I know DJI has a huge market share. It would be a good acquisition.

It's evident GoPro is struggling, but did they make an official announcement that they were "Pulling out"? I didn't hear or read anything stating otherwise that they were faulting.

Thanks.

And remember DJI bought Hasselblad last year/year before... So potential to enter high end imaging too.

The problem go pro had was their drones crashing as they lost power and randomly they would "do a runner". Watch Apple posting job openings for related fields. Thats how the world twigged to development of the iphone wasnt it? Because they started nicking folk from Motorola :)

Very good point you made. There's going to be around 300 drone people looking for jobs out there

I would hope Apple wouldn't go for the likes of DJI. DJI have an excellent portfolio or drones and actually at a decent price for the quality on offer. Apple purchasing them would remove them as an innovative and affordable player in the drone market.
I wouldn't be against them picking up one of the smaller drone companies and sharing resources to compete with the likes of DJI but then they need to consider if they want to develop for the consumer or pro markets or both.

Other than a huge tie in with iOS, why would Apple get into the drone market? I can't see them going all in and making a $4000 drone unless it has VR capabilities and even then it won't be marketed for consumers. I just don't see a reason for them to do it.
