No, they usually n e v e r update or improve their products.

OF course they will!!!! "When" is another question... :)

They are selling faster than they can make them so I doubt it, but in true Apple fashion they might release a black version to entice those who already purchased white.

Not a chance. The AirPods are still 2 to 3 weeks within shipping and they have not even been released a year since last December 2016. I Would say the next update will be mid 2018.

I just bought a pair today. Is it worth returning and getting the newer version if the only change is the light indicator location but waiting however long for 1,2 to come in the mail or should I stick with what I got? I haven't opened the package yet

What can they do to improve from the first gen though? Being able to use them to change volume on the pod?

Same dilemma here.

I would imagine this is preparation for them and they won't actually release them. As people have said, they're still struggling to meet demand as it is

EDIT: Just read the article, likely just to just moved the charge indicator on the case from the inside to the outside, no major upgrade to the actual headphones

I got my AirPods a couple of weeks ago and I love them! If there are a couple of decent updates to the new ones I will return my within Amazons return window period and get the new revision. I know one thing though, I always want AirPods in my life from now on, I like them that much!

I recently bought mine too. Looks like the new ones only move the charge indicator to the outside of the case instead of inside. Not worried about it as I only use these at work. I have a nice pair of Beats Solo3 that I use elsewhere. However if they release a black pair I'd buy those in a heartbeat. But Apple's accessories are always white. So it will never happen.

I hope charging indicator is the only change plus I like the indicator inside it gives that cleaner look on the outside. I bought mine on Thursday and i totally love them. I did not pay the full price as mine was discounted to £117 from £159 as Apple messed up my previous order. And if i do return them i will loose this discount. But then if they have made major upgrades to the Airpods itself i do not mind paying the full price as long as the shipping times are not ridiculous.

I really want soft silicon buds. never been a fan of hard plastic earbuds, Apple or anyone elses. and not white, would be great.

Got mine 2 weeks ago. I Love them.
Hope I don't feel otherwise after tuesday & the uppgrade.

I’d be surprised if it’s anymore than a raised reset button on the back and charge indicator on the front instead of when you pop the lid open

I care about neither,

Especially with 1,2 internal name, as opposed to 1,1 for AirPods ‘gen 1’

I think they will announce it tomorrow, or just do a silent apple store update. Since its in the d22 iOS 11 GM firmware, supposedly

If thats all it is, its probably not even worth announcing
