I am considering getting a MicroCell Friday when they are available in my area (Raleigh, NC). The only way I can really justify doing this is if I get rid of my Vonage account and let our iPhones by our only phones. Our Vonage phone number is a number we've had for 25 years and I really hate to get rid of it though (that number is used by all kinds of doctors, etc.). If GV ever had it so you could transport numbers though, I'd move that old number to it and have it forwarded to my iPhone. Short of doing that I'm considering, if I get the MicroCell and get rid of Vonage, transporting that old number to my wife's iPhone. Only a few people call her and that would be no big deal to change her iPhone number. I will only do this though if the MicroCell works as advertised and we get excellent iPhone service in our house. Right now we can't even use our iPhones in the house. Calls drop within 10 seconds of receiving them every time.

I suspect that it will be an option in the future. I don't think any time too soon though.

Yes, its in the plan - Michael Arrington of TechCrunch fame has already ported his number to GV. They let him in early for the press. But when that will be open for everyone else is a mystery.

You migh consider poting it to another service until GV comes around. For $5-$10/mo, there are other answering services you could port to. Or just open a 3rd line on your ATT plan and then forward the number to either of your phones.
