do you think MM will ever be upgradable to 32GB?

I need 32GB seriously. Don't want to buy a new MP just for 32GB.

Are there even 16GB SODIMM modules available? A quick search says no, and considering Mac Mini has only 2 slots...

Uh...the word "ever" and the fact that computer hardware is always advancing would lead me to suggest that the answer is a very obvious "yes, inevitably, it will be". Though if you were talking about the current shipping model as of my posting this comment (Late 2012 model), then I'm going to have to say "No" as the mobile chipsets contemporary with Ivy Bridge in use in the mini are capped at 16GB.

I think the Sandy Bridge ones support 32GB, so time will tell whether there will be 16GB DDR3 sodimms.

Really? You mean computers are going to advance even more? Wow, amazing.

Obviously I'm wanting to know if there is some technical info that could allow this sooner than later like Blanka replied with above. Thanks Blanka.

there are 16 GB modules (ECC), but sadly no respective SO-DIMM modules. i assume it's quite likely that the coming DDR4 standard will change this. thus, 32 GB and more may be possible with the mac mini of 2014 or, more realistically, 2015.

If they remove the HDD and go all SSD like they are doing in all the other machines I don't know why they couldn't add 2 more memory slots. That said I doubt apple would do that. They would rather push you towards a mac pro if you need that much ram.

I was about to say the same thing. Screw the storage. Anyone can get that for nothing. Just OS SSD and let us install tons of RAM.

Right now only FCP can take advantage of OpenCL so the only reason I would need a new Mac Pro is for the RAM. Logic Pro will almost certainly never use it unless there is a rewrite. Apple obviously knows this.

I wouldn't mind 32 GB of RAM but I myself was really hoping the Mini would get a 512 GB SSD. 256 is just too small for me but I dislike HDD's!

I think 640K is more than enough for some people

I think you mean 128K. :)

I think that can be done as a DIY upgrade.

Not if you're like me and tremble at the word DIY. I'm REALLY hopeless when it comes to those kinds of things, even if they're considered 'simple.'

Fair enough - but as long as it's a DIY the Y doesn't have to really be you - it can be a friend who's good at this stuff or a local computer shop.

First off, that wasn't your wording. If you don't want smart-assed answers, word your questions more carefully.

Secondly, that person is wrong; mobile Sandy Bridge chipsets (as well as mobile Ivy Bridge chipsets) cap at 16GB.
