Do you think Snow Leapard will be released on new hardware?

if they do release SL this year.

Since SL is 64 bit OS version, will the current iMac hardware fully utilize SL? Or will it need new hardware to take advantage of the 64 bit?

All core 2 duo Mac, which covers all Intel Macs except for the first revision, are fully 64 bit. There is not need or reason for Snow Leopard to require new hardware.

Developers are currently running the Snow Leopard beta on hardware that is 2-3 years old and it is fully supported.

Everything from the G5 on, except the very first intel models, are all fully 64 bit.

Apple just did a round of big updates so we won't see any new hardware. The iMac might get an update towards the end of the year, the mini will get a speed bump in two years.

I don't think they will update the hardware. If anything, they will showcase the performance improvement on older hardware due to the enhancements OS X will receive by taking advantage of idle GPU's.
