do you think someone would buy this?

a mac mini, modded to fit in a "box" a a mini 10inch monitor? by mimo, the touch screen one?

sorta like a mac mini mod?

it would sorta be like a netbook, except thicker, no battery, all cased in like a pollished wooden box. there would be cut-outs for the ports, so it could be used with a car charger->wall charger adapter so kids could watch a movie in the car? maybe ideal for people who have a blu-ray player, and want to be able to have their blu-ray movies for anywhere, like in the hotel, bring a hdmi cable with you, and wa-bam, you got portable netbook/dvd player/entertainment system/fully loaded mac with touch screen.

but does anyone know of a battery for the "new, unibody" mac mini?

how much do you think the selling value on ebay would be?

go down to mac box

I get you now! Thing is though, what would be the advantage of this over a laptop?

Yes - two people.

Depends on price really. But if you are buying all this at full retail, that will put a box at around $999 at least, $1299 if somebody wants to make ANY money.

Why not just get an iPad? So what apps are going to be run on this?

i mean, its like 800-900 total, and you get basically the functionality of a full computer an iPad (touch screen), and a portable movie center, especially if you have a blu-ray ripper...

The screen is $260 (and out of stock), the mini is $689. $950 just in parts (at retail).

The screen is 1024×600.

What are you going to do for power? Just drag an extension cord, or add some sort of battery pack. Add at least another $100 for a battery with a fair runtime.

The iPad is 1024-by-768 and is $499 to $699. Can't you play BluRay rips on the iPad - with VLC or by transcoding to MP4?
