Not that Mac gets many, but maybe Diablo 4 will come which would be cool.

Because the M1 Max is in Mac laptops I think of it like laptop performance. Can it be compared to PC gaming builds performance wise?

Can it...yes!
Will anyone spend more development money to port .... in almost all cases probably not.

I think I read Diablo 4 won't be on the Mac. :(

True!

But my point to him was that it hits a key graphics benchmark. IMO that performance metric is running games 30fps at 1440p or 60fps @ 1080p without added cost. I haven't actually tried to do this, so it's slightly speculative.

So moving forward, any M1 Ultra or better is probably capable of AAA games.
