WiFi 6E devices are supposed to be ready by later this year. The iPhone 11 series just got WiFi 6 last fall. Do you think we can expect to see WiFi 6E in the new 12 series?

No, because BCM4389 was just announced in February. In the past, the lag between Broadcom announcing a product and Apple adopting it is around 12-18 months.

5G yes WiFi 6E doubtful as the standard just recently came out
However I do think it will be AC capable

Is there a massive adoption of WiFi 6 yet? I think WiFi 6e will be like 5g. no relevance for a while

Qualcomm has a chip that supports WiFi 6E. Will Apple use it?? Time will tell. I think it will at least support WiFi 6.

I wince when I think of people who have bought $300 routers and then WiFi 6 comes out. Even WiFi 6 will take 3 or 4 years to become accessible to most. By then, the battery in your iPhone 12 will be on the way out.

That's me! I bought an Eero mesh system a year ago to replace an ancient single router.

But even though Eero is "only" WIFI 5... I'm fine with it. It's more than enough for what I need... and waaay better than what I had previously.

I now have great coverage everywhere in my house and everything works great. I'm not sure I'd even notice the advantages that WIFI 6 and 6E offer. (especially since I currently have zero WIFI 6 devices)

I'm not one of those "ZOMG I must have WIFI 6!" people. Not yet anyway... :)

I currently have a DLink N150 router and am thinking of replacing it with a WiFi 6 router so that I can have better connectivity when I get the iPhone 12 Pro this year. So what router is excellent in terms of WiFi 6 connectivity ?

does this wifi6 or 6e will not work on the older router and needs a new one?

Not sure if I understand your question exactly but if you have a WiFi 6 device it will be compatible to work on any older WiFi 5 router.

However to take advantage of the WiFi 6 you need to have both a device and a router that supports WiFi 6.

Currently there are no WiFi 6E devices or routers on the market and to take advantage of 6E you will also need to have both device and router that support 6E.

Hard no, due to when the Broadcom chip was introduced.

Thank you.

If it’s a clear no for iPhones, probably even less so for the MacBook's, right? I was thinking about waiting for a 16” refresh with Wi-Fi 6E this fall, but I think I’ll just buy it now.

The current 16-inch MacBook Pro doesn't have WiFi 6, so any refresh this fall should include it. That's already a big improvement. As I mentioned before, it takes Apple 12-18 months before they adopt the newest radio from Broadcom. So 6E won't be in any Apple product until next year.
