Seems that’s the route apple are going with...on iphone 12/pro and even the iPad Air.

No, I don’t think so. I think apple wants to keep the iPad Pro “Pro”.

Which means that it will probably only have Space Gray and Silver. I think all the special colors are reserved for the non Pro iPads.

Seems reasonable, although I would love a green or blue Pro.

Perhaps! I think we will see more of a premium feel to the Pro lineup. Similar to how they are are approaching it with 12 Pro, they have stainless steel finishes. Since the updated Air is starting to look like the Pro, I have a feeling Apple is going to try to differentiate the Pro lineup more.

I’m curious, for those wishing for different colors are you using folios? No doubt that the edges are visible but otherwise the majority of the back is typically covered anyhow, no?

I don't think @The Game 161 was wishing for different colors. It was more of a question whether or not Apple would do it. And yeah, majority of the time my iPP back is covered.. but there are a few times.. where I carry around the house without it covered.

Nah, they have colored iPhone Pros. If there are large amounts of profit to be made, I'm sure Apple would be right on top of it.

I reckon it's simply that Apple doesn't expect to sell enough quantities of the other colors to make it worth the increase in overhead. The 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 did come in four colors, iirc, but the $800 2017 12.9 just came in three.

Maybe the blue of the iPhone Pros, but I don’t think they’ll have the greatest range of colours as they did in the 1st/2nd Gen.

I think it all depends how popular the newer colors on the Air are. If most people gravitate towards the Silvers and Space Grays anyway on the Air, why would Apple invest in a newer color?

Even for me, as someone who has owned 2 generation of iPad Pros, I would still get the Space Gray color.

Red is more colorful because it contains more units of color.

Yay for the best kinds of internet arguments, pedantic and meaningless. :D

PS. You misspelled 'color'. :D :D

I’ll leave it at achromatic then.

And you misspelled colour. :D

Colour is the correct spelling in the UK, and color is the US spelling, so there will be members here correctly using both spellings.

The 9.7” Pro came in rose gold. My wife has that one. Not sure why they decided to go with just space gray and silver on the most recent versions. Even professionals are allowed to have a personality. Or is a personality unprofessional?
