I started using the smart invert mode more often recently and I’m actually enjoying it. It’s actually improved my battery life tremendously on the iPhone XS (more than 40%). It’s helpful to triple click the side button to activate this feature when you want to turn it on/off. I use it the most for web browsing, emails, texts and social media apps, not so much for gaming since it inverts the colors from its natural settings.

I never used it because some of the stuff still gets show inverted. But never looked that much into it. Trying it now on my iPad and iPhone, with the triple press to turn it on and off. Thanks for the tip.

Your title is a little misleading as you identify this as smart invert (but dark mode in your title). I knew Apple had that now, but my understanding was that an actual dark mode was still unavailable.

I just use Eclipse 3 systemwide. Oh yeah. I'm jailbroken.

Absolutely. I use dark mode to read since ios5 on iPad 3 and all iPhones I had. It's better for my eyes. Even right now, I have custom key combo on my iMac 27" made to quick invert colors.

I do. As soon the update came through I instantly switched to dark mode.

I don’t like the smart invert, alters the colours too much and some apps look ridiculous
So what I do is use some apps that have their own dark mode, for the apps I use the most.
For safari I use an app called Berry which has a great dark mode.
For Facebook I use Friendly.
YouTube i use the dark mode in the app
I get 12-14 hour battery life on my XS max due to using dark mode in these apps

A lot of the apps I use it with aren't true black, it's like a grey so it isn't really saving anything by using it. I don't use it. I wish there was a true dark mode. I do use it on Mac OS though, love it there but I think it is a true "dark mode" unlike the smart invert.

I would so love a dark mode in iOS. I am looking at you Apple!!
I tried the smart invert, but as soon as something does not invert smartly, it ruins the experience for me. But Oh man is my X's display gorgeous in smart invert.

Not sure that’s strictly true. Even when showing grey pixels it will be using a lot less energy than displaying white

Ok that's right, a dark grey is better than a blaring blue/white. I'll give you that. Thanks for the correction.

I downgraded my XS Max to 12.1.1 b3 and now I am just waiting for Uncover to release the JB for A12 devices. Eclipse 12 is going to be my first tweak installed, I can't wait.

As for smart invert I can't stand it... makes my home screen looks horrible, inverts colors in all the wrong places.... whenever I turn it on to experiment it goes right back off 3 minutes later. Not sure how you can browse safari with it, looks absolutely terrible.

I LOVE it on my iMac and I use it on every single app on my phone and iPad that offers dark mode.

I would absolutely love a full, system-wide option with the next update.

it's great on the mac, and look forward to a 'real' dark mode on the next ios version... but some things don't show well (some videos), and i can't seem to get a 'real' black onscreen with some images. fun to play with tho...
