i don't really see the purpose of this program. i can simply open up itunes or iphoto and do the same thing.
unless i'm missing something?

I use it sometimes but i am like you, its just as easy if not easier to open itunes or iphoto or whatever and still do other things at at the same time. I use frontrow to watch movie trailers and stuff and to show off my macbook pro when my friends come over.

I use it when I'm using my macbook as a media listening device, say from bed or something with the Apple Remote.

Or to watch dvds. It's a lot easier to read the text in front row and navigate it like that with the remote than it is just by running the program.

I never use it, but I guess most people who do use it, use it when they hook their computer up to a tv or beamer, which makes navigating your multimedia much easier of course.

Ok hook up your laptop to a TV and close the lid. Then think to yourself....how might frontrow be useful now.

Hint: press the remote, your laptop comes alive, and you can do photos/music/dvd/video with the remote and you don't need a keyboard/mouse.

I use it all the time. I just hook my MBP up to an old CRT monitor my roommate had lying around and use it in lieu of a TV.

I use it all the time. I got a Keyspan RF remote now as well so I can switch tracks from other rooms. It's fantastic.

I use it all the time when I have a party. I just hook it up to the stereo and projector. Now I don't have to run up to the computer to change stuff. Chicks dig it.

I'm with all these guys, I use it when I am not sitting right in front of my laptop and want to watch movies or listen to music.

Plus if you get Perian you can play just about anything in Quicktime which means you can play anything in Front Row.

I use it while hooked up to my monitor to watch movies and listen to music.

what cables do you need to do that?

for parties and stuff i just have ipods hooked up to a stereo. for watching movies i have DVD's on the tv. but i suppose the remote aspect of it could come in handy from time to time.

To hook up the MacBook to a standard TV, you need the MiniDVI-Video adapter (S-Video and Composite) and a 1/8" -> 2 RCA adapter for the audio.

Not much, really, unless I am showing it off to someone, which, regrettably, I rarely do. (< so many commas! O_O )

I find FrontRow's utility particularly limited. True, it is nice to have an 'umbrella' interface for all your media, but integration with Tv cards would be quite beneficial. Personally, i used to record a bunch of TV Shows...not anymore though, mainly ever since my MacBook Pro became my main computer. (< that is 'comp | pueh | tah' )

Oh it became your main computer did ittttt .. how fantastic!

I barely ever use it. I much prefer just organizing my videos into folders and finding what I'm looking for like that. For music and pictures I just use iTunes and iPhoto.

Oh yes, indeed. You don't know what a pleasant feeling this beautiful machine gives. You can be confident that it'll take whatever you throw at it, no questions asked (and if he does, i'll slaps him across his beautiful, yet fresh face). I pity those waiting for Leopard, they're missing so much fun...

typical.

Why? You are not thinking I am merely flaunting my powerful and perfectly built MacBook Pro, are you? I mean, that would be most undesirable to those waiting for Leopard to come out...

LOL you win

I can only imagine what this thread would turn into if this carried on
