I currently use it a lot for entertainment and pleasure but am trying very hard to change that.

Would like to use it more as a tool to get things done rather than a distraction that takes me away from being productive.

Any tips?

I use as an entertainment / a portable “in dire needs” work tool.

My girlfriend uses it for everything. In fact, she refuses to touch her laptop if it can be done on her phone.

Knowing how you use your devices, download a black wallpaper with bright colored dots on it. Throw iPhone in toilet and use it for target practice. Flush. (All of our) problems solved.

I've really tried to do this as well. I'm big into social media, so I tried turning off notifications for those apps, then I tried turning off background data all together to try and limit my use, but that didn't last and before I knew it I was back to my previous ways.

A homescreen page for productivity apps only and the rest are just pleasure/fun apps.

Can you tell me what apps you use for productivity?

I’ve reached a point where I don’t want my iPhone to be a distraction from being productive.

So when I pick it up I don’t want to be on social media, reading random news, articles, or watching a quick YouTube video.

It would be nice when I pick it up to do things that actually help me accomplish my goals and be more productive.

That really depends on what you do and what's productive to you, which is different for different people (and even at different times).

I primarily use my iPhone for texts, e-mails and phone calls. Also use various apps related to health and fitness and occasionally look up something on the web while out. Web browsing is so much easier and more fun on my rMBP.

1. Delete social media apps, news apps and the YouTube app
2. Unsubscribe, unfollow and unfriend garbage people/websites
3. Delete social media accounts
4. ???
5. Profit.

I think if you’re asking for this type of advice, then you have what seems to be a severe addiction to social media as you indicated in another post and in other threads as well from past readings. There Is no right or wrong way to use a phone, but in your case, it seems you are highly confused.

Get a flip phone. Problem solved.

I think a lot of people are “addicted” to their iPhone lol.

I also find myself looking at my favorite photos a lot.

I’ll figure something out.

Perhaps there are, but you’re specifically asking for advice, not to mention, your previous threads indicate that you seem very possessed by your smart phone in more than one way or the other.

Hopefully one day when you are older and have a family, you will gladly hand your phone to your kid(s) to entertain them so you can have a few minutes of peace. Life and it's responsibilities will take the place of your phone addiction!

I quit all social media almost a year ago and it was life changing . . . .you should try it!

I’ve quit Facebook for good and not regretting at all.
