Just like the title says:

Do you use your MacBook (Pro) for surfing the web/watching movies/listening to the music, running apps/games or you rather use your iPad (Pro) most of the time and your Macbook is collecting dust?

MacBook Air for everything with movies and music. And browsing.Connected to the tv , or just on its own.

iPhone for music and light browsing.

iPad plays radio for the dog, when I am at work. And my girlfriend plays some ****** games on it.

the iPad is a beautiful and cool product. But I discovered it is not for me.
Since I have it, I sometimes use it with sidecar.
If the iPad dies or is too old, I will not buy another unit.

My last iPad was a 12.9" 2020 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. I loved it, but I was using it like a MacBook most of the time. When the M1 Macs came out, I got the base model MBA and sold my iPad. Much to my own surprise, I haven't missed it at all. I was firmly in the "iPad as a laptop" camp, but the software is no longer progressing fast enough for me, and the MBA is thinner, lighter, and more powerful.

Typing this post on my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9. I was using the Air 3 earlier but that one's charging at the moment. I also have a ThinkPad E15 (AMD) for remote desktop to work.

My M1 MacBook Air is just sitting in the laptop bag right now. I think the last time I used it was maybe back in January doing a pro-forma tax return with TurboTax.

Maybe when work no longer requires Windows, I might put forth more effort to learn macOS. As it is, I'm already too comfortable using Windows so I normally reach for the hotter and noisier ThinkPad than the completely silent M1 MBA.

Don't have a Mac but I use my Surface Pro 7 attached to a 4K monitor the vast majority of the time, the 12.9 iPP a small amount of time.

I don't browse or watch youtube on the 'pad because it's impossible to find decent ad blockers.

My iPhone is my most common surf the web device, and I cast to a TV to watch videos and things.

I bought a 12.9" iPad Pro a couple years ago because the primary thing I use an iPad for is for notes for speaking. The 12.9" does that extraordinarily well; but it also actually kind of makes the iPad Pro a little bit too big for me to grab and use regularly. I just end up not using it.

However, now when I travel, I don't even bring my MBP. Especially when I travel internationally.

So I guess the answer is "Sometimes it collects dust, sometimes it gets used as my primary device".

Biggest issue with my MB is the lack of a touch screen. Everything else I use has one. Except my MB.

I say I use iPad 90% and MB 10%. Some things you just can’t do on an iPad.

I use my iPad every week but as Screen Time has informed me, it averages less than 10 minutes a day.

I use my iPad to look things up when I'm doing something with the family and want to easily show other people, websites that aren't too complicated like travel, or when I want to draw. And play music. It's an oversized iPod most of the time.

Having a MacBook that stands on its own, can tilt its display at any angle, can run a dozen apps at once, has a great keyboard (2013 15") and can remote into my other macs in the house make it above and beyond what an iPad is useful for.

Even for casual browsing on the couch after work I have a 13" MBP that I prefer to an iPad because it's way easier to type on my lap while watching tv and then close quickly and put down when I smell dinner burning.

Since I bought the MacBook Air a year ago I don't use my iPad anymore. Honestly, I don't feel the need. I actually sold it months ago. Now MacBooks are so thin, light and last so long on battery that there's not much to do with an iPad. iPad used to be much better in those aspects in the past but it doesn't have any advantage over notebooks other than it's smaller and a little bit easier to use. I do the real work and entertainment on my Mac mini and I use my MacBook on the sofa or when I travel.

I am only recently an iPad owner. I still use my Mac (a Mini, not a MacBook, but I voted anyway) much more often for internet activities. The computer is upstairs, and the iPad stays downstairs. I'll use the iPad to look something up while watching TV if something I'm watching triggers a question. Before the iPad, I'd think that I wanted to check something out later rather than interrupting whatever I was watching on TV. But then, of course, I would forget what it was that I wanted to know.

I also use the Mac to live stream worship from our church through the AppleTV, even though I could use the iPad. Using the TV allows my wife and I to sit in our usual spots for viewing. And I use the Mac for Zoom and Skype, even though the iPad can do those as well.

I think the iPad has a sharper image than the 15 year old TV and the 6 year old computer monitor, and the relative scale of the iPad image, being viewed from arm's length is comparable to sitting across the room from the TV, so I guess it's just that habits are ingrained.

My usage is 75 % on the laptop and 25 % on the iPad.

I use mainly my laptop for watching movies, web browsing and skyping and texting friends. I use the iPad for listening to Spotify during work and for apps with the Apple Pencil. I do not game that much so there is no data to share on that regard.

For long web browsing on forums I would tend to use my MacBook but for everything else pretty much use my iPad for media and general browsing on the sofa and I use mac 10 hours a day for work so I would say I have good usage for both.

iPad: web surfing, reading and studying papers and books, writing papers, drawing, mail.

MacBook: playing Football Manager, adding bibliography at my papers before submitting.

Both for watching movie and tv series, it depends by the moment of the day when I’m doing it.

I no longer have a MacBook, but when I did I still used the iPad more for casual use. I prefer having the iMac + iPad combo as it is the most versatile.

The iPad still has advantages over the Mac for some things (like reading) due to the slate form-factor and, in some cases, software where developers have decent iOS apps, but relegate macOS users to a subpar web experience.

My MBP is just gathering dust now.

WFH all the time means I use my desktop (34" Ultra wide screen) for productivity and then IPP (12.9" 2020) for everything else. Just a far more intimate experience on the IPP than the MBP. It's a better device for single app usage i.e. I want to watch a film or browse the web or watch Twitch - instead of all 3 at once - if that makes sense.

Example - I am in the kitchen and want the football on a screen - I open the MK, IPP instant on, one click the Sky app from the menu bar with my finger on the screen, instant full screen on 4 speakers (on Promotion) - don't get me wrong it's not like I can't get to the same result with a MBP but it's not as a smooth experience - open the MBP, type in a password (when it has decided not to trust my AW for some reason), now have to use trackpad for app, open it, now full screen it and finally watching. If my hands are now dirty i can't use a knuckle on a trackpad like I can on touchscreen (easily).
