So I have iOS 5 on my iPhone 4S and iPad 1 (and soon iPod 3GS lol aka my old iPhone) but currently, conversations held between my iPhone and iPad don't sync. It should be noted that I'm still on MobileMe and not iCloud if that makes a difference.

If texting from your phone, you would have to send a Text Message to the other person via the email address (not phone number) in order for it to sync back to your iPad or iPod touch

Not sure I understand. I initiated a convo with my gf who has iOS 5 so it sends it to her as an iMessage (which is indicated by the blue text field) and the fact that it says iMessage and delivered in the text field.

Since I have an iPad 1 with iOS 5, shouldn't that conversation also appear on that device?

When you go to the Phone.app and under your GF's contact info, you select 'Send Message' and then you would have to select her email address as the place to send the message, not her phone number.

When she replies back, both your iPhone and iPad would receive the message (provided they are both logged in using the same Apple ID). Going forward every message you send and receive will sync to two devices.

Any text I send my wife appears on her iPad and iPhone. Doesn't work for me. We have them set up exactly the same.

I have a ipad 1, iphone 4, and iphone 4S... my ipad and my 4S are under on the same apple id and my iphone 4 is using a different one. When i send a imessage from the 4 to the 4S or the ipad they both receive the msg at the same time!

You have to make sure that your caller ID is set to the same email address on your iPhone and iPad. Then, all messages you send afterwards and the replies you receive will get synced to both devices.

I found that if I started the conversation using my phone, the reply would just come to my phone. However if I started on my iPad 2, I was then getting the messages on both devices. However this would then create 2 conversations on my friends devices. So I just told them to delete the old one.

Having problems here too between my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. Friday, no syncing at all.... Yesterday, everything worked great.... Today, no sync at all.... I verified the outgoing address is my email and not phone number for iMessage on both devices.

It simply doesn't work.

I haven't changed a thing on either device and this morning it works. My wife sent me a text and it appeared on both devices. Now I'm really confused.
