so it's very annoying. my whole springboard background turns into a rainbow that looks like it was made in ms paint... what causes this?

100 times as obnoxious lol it's like not even straight lines. they are like using the pencil in mspaint...
heres a picture of what it looks like in the phone app. it only sometimes happens so i had to screenshot it when i saw it. pardon the call XD

You can replace it if you want. The reason it's there though is to show you that something has gone wrong
