Dock magnification

I recently purchased M1 mac mini. For some reason the dock magnification doesn't work despite checking yes to the magnification function in Preferences. Also, the 'Hot corners' function in Mission control doesn't work either. Any body else noticed it? What's the solution?

Strange looks like you’ve got everything setup correctly, I’m guessing you’ve tried a restart?

How many icons do you have in your dock?

On my M1 MBA the point at which your "Size" slider seems to be is about as big as the icons go. If you move that size slider any more to the right the icons seem to stay the same size but if you move it to the left the icons go smaller.
Is that what you're seeing too?
I haven't noticed this until just now but as the "max" size is ok for me I never tried to go any bigger.

I had this on mine, opening a Terminal window and entering

killall Dock

fixed it for me.

I had this on mine, opening a Terminal window and entering

killall dock

^^ This, it’s the first thing to try, fixes a lot of Dock problems.
