I decided that with displaying pictures of my trip to Taiwan as my desktop pictures I would clean all the icons off my desktop. Obviously no problem to clean off all the files, and even hiding the HD and disk icons is not a hit to productivity with the new Finder sidebar! Only one thing remained, my beloved desktop printer that Steve finally returned to me after a 3 year hiatus. Then I realized that the desktop printer was a simple alias to another app somewhere! I did the 'Find Original' thing, and put that other icon into the dock. Now, not only can I drag anything onto the dock rather than having to Expose to the desktop to print it!! Talk about productivity boost! :D :D :D :D

i didnt even realize desktop printing had returned... tell me, does it work properly this time around, or does the application still launch and go to the print screen? that always annoyed me, really it only saves a few seconds that way... but if it could just go ahead and print, or even open it and print it hidden from the user, it would be cooler.

Eh, for things like TextEdit files just the print thing comes up (dunno bout Preview files though) however, DOCs and Word, word will launch then the print dialogue will pop up. I'm gonna assume Apple program associated files will print without the app needing to run.

Whoa!

Hey 7on... on your shark desktop, how did you get those cool Adobe and Macromedia folders into your dock, and where did you get 'em? Also, how did you get that StrongBad icon on your desktop, and what is it in place of?

Cool stuff!

You can find a ton of really cool icons at:

http://www.xicons.com/category/11/index.html

After downloading what you want, very easy to use. Copy the icon you want to use, find the folder you want to change and do a get info on it. Click on its icon in the upper right hand corner and paste the previously copied icon over it.
