I just picked up a new 27" iMac last month. (Apple - 27" iMac® with Retina 5K display (Latest Model) - Intel Core i7 (3.8GHz) - 8GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Silver) I'm looking for a dock that will help me connect two more monitors. I got a Kensington dock on Amazon but I'm going to have to return it because the iMac won't recognize it. Most of the docks I've found will work with laptops, but I'm struggling to find something that will definitely work with my new 27" iMac. Help!

Q1 - How many external displays are currently connected? The 5K iMacs only support 2x external displays: more will require a video wall splitter or an eGPU.

Q2 - Must both displays be connected via the hub, or can you connect one via a USB-C adapter and the second one via the hub?

If only one display needs to be connected to the hub you can use a USB-C hub, but to run two external displays from a hub/adapter/dock will require a Thunderbolt-3 device.

OWC (macsales.com) has good mac customer service. You could give their Mini-Thunderbolt dock a try. If you prefer display-port or don't need extra USB ports then the Thunderbolt to dual Displayport adaptor is a bit cheaper.
