I have looked thru a lot of posts trying to find the docks that actually support at least 2 monitors for these MacBooks. So if you have one that works well with these machines, can you list what you have below?

I am trying to decide on which one to get and I am sure that there will be others as well. When I even search the Amazon reviews, they only mention the regular M1 or M2 devices.... so a different type of use....

I'm using the CalDigit TS3+ with my 14" M1 Pro. I had kernel panics with docking/undocking almost weekly with my 16" Intel and thought that the dock might be the issue, but after getting the M1Pro it's worked flawlessly. I can only recall one KP since November, but I'm not hanging that on the dock.

It was pricey, but after using a couple of cheapo dongle docks, I ponied up the cash and, well, you get what you pay for.

Which one do you have?

I have been looking at these mini ones....
CalDigit
Belkin
OWC

Today, I decided I should at least connect 1 of my external drives to it - to make faster access, then thru file sharing on my Mac mini..

Well now I think I might want to go away from the mini ones, I want at least a couple usb-c ports on it as well. Might want to hook my luna display into it - but I could just leave it plugged into the MBP....

So I bought the iVanky 12 in 2 Pro and it sort of works.... all but ethernet speeds are about 1/2 of what they should be....

So I guess apple's ethernet adapter is for the old style thunderbolt.... guy at Best Buy had me get the platinum brand - USB-c to ethernet - same issues. The Huge j5Create gives me the speeds of ethernet but not anything else works great..... I am about ready to spend the big bucks to get the more expensive docks.... Did not know this would be SO difficult....

None of the cheaper ones worked with my 16" Intel MacBook Pro so I went with this one and it has worked well with my 14" M1Pro. I think it's been replaced with a TS4. It works really well. Expensive but it is the right tool for the job after trying to get by with a few less expensive options.

I am using the Lenovo Universal Thunderbolt 4 dock which I picked up for a very good price on eBay. Can handle two monitors. Would recommend if you can get it for a good price. With more and more people heading back to the office there are bargains to be had.

Edit: there is a good Reddit thread on using this dock on the new MBP’s if you are interested.

I’m using the HyperDrive 4K Multi-display at the office, and it’s worked well for my needs. I’ve got a 14”, but I’m pretty confident this will work with the 16” as well. They have a slightly more expensive version specifically for the 16” that supports three external displays. A nice feature on this dock is that it has both HDMI and DisplayPort ports for each display, so you can choose the port that works best for you. I paired this with a 100W USB-C power adapter from Anker.

Per the product page:

Ports

DP 4K60Hz x 2
HDMI 4K60Hz x 2
MicroSD UHS-I 104MB/s
SD UHS-I 104MB/s
1Gb Ethernet
USB-A 10Gbps x 1
USB-A 5Gbps x 1
USB-C 10Gbps x 2
USB-C Power Delivery 100W

Right now I am using the JCreate5 - JCD543. It works great for 2 monitors - 4k and 2k... I did need to use Display Port. Ethernet is also really good with it.... :)
