I haven't used it, but you may want to try NeoOffice. It's free.

Office test drive is free, at least for 30 days...

Or, if you have AppleWorks, see if you didn't get MacLinkPlus with that...

Hrmmm.... NeoOffice does not open these documents, and my Microsoft Office Test Drive has been long driven. More suggestions please!

Oh, and MacLinkPlus does not deal with Microsoft Works files, sadly.

If you only need to recover the text out of the documents, you could try TextEdit.

TextEdit cannot open or edit .wps files.
