This is what I noticed yesterday. Please check the attached screenshot, it shows the battery usage stats for my new iPad 6 (two months old) for the last 10 days. I noticed that the Documents app (by Readdle) has been running in the background even though I was not using it. I wonder if this is normal?

I'm on the latest version of iOS 12.1.4

Thanks

I don't know what the Documents app is meant to do and why it might need background activity, but if you gain nothing from the background activity, I recommend disabling it

Thanks for the response. I actually tried disabling it, head over to settings - General - Background app refresh
I wanted to turn off its background activity by restricting it from running in the background. But I was surprised to see that the documents app was not there on the list of apps for which I can turn off the background activity. Why so? That's really strange

U.K.
Documents has run in the background for 3 hours for me. That would be downloading large publications and indexing them.
You can turn of indexing in Documents settings.

Go to Settings > Privacy > Photos > Documents and set "Allow Photos Access" to None.
This is the only way to stop its background activity.
Now you can use the app for anything other than accessing your photos in your gallery.
Weird bug for such an amazing app.
