Following an upgrade to Mojave my Documents folder and in fact ALL documents (e.g. those on the desktop) are missing from my Mac. Please help!

I rebooted my Mac and launched the repair partition (press command+R during startup) so I could run Disk First Aid on my hard drive. Following this, I rebooted my Mac and following login, my missing files were again visible. As this was a very stressful event, I wanted to post my solution in case anyone else has this problem.

PHEW!

I'd recommend taking the opportunity, while you still have your files, to set up a backup system of some sort.
