Does 10.8 finally support external screen only with lid open?

Hi,

Have a question for those installed the GM of ML.

On SL -> All good, close lid, press mouse, open lid, on-screen stay off, only external screen on.

On L -> close lid, press mouse, open lid, on-screen on with external screen -> have to use magnet trick (heard of the terminal thing before but some argue that the on-screen still consume the resource so no point) -> this is ridiculous!

On ML -> ?

For the sake of discussion, please focus on the functionality rather than the purpose... thanks.

I've gotten an external screen to work with the built-in screen off on Lion. I can't remember how I did it, but I've done it. I have no use for that setup so I don't normally do it.

Why don't you just leave the lid closed?

Officially No. But theres been a workaround since Lion

I tried in 10.7.4, when I open the lid, built-in screen turns it self on.

I dunno what you're doing wrong but i've been using that since 10.7.4 and have carried it over to 10.8 and it still works brilliantly. Laptop screen stays off any main monitor stays on.
