Does 10-bit video playback support really increase battery life on iPad while watching videos?

It has me interested but I only have Infuse 4 and never upgraded to Infuse 5. I switched to nPlayer Plus for my iPad.

I don't think nPlayer Plus has this feature yet but the main reason I switched is because of subfolder support and no crashing while playing a video in the middle of it (really sucked).

Infuse used to use brute-force software decoding for 10-bit video since it was not supported via HW decoding. That puts a heavy load on the CPU and uses up a lot of battery compared to normal YV12 videos. Also, I think you needed minimum A8 or A9 for software decode of 10-bit H.264/HEVC.

Note, it's only for A9 and later devices.

"Unlocks hours of battery life" is stretching it quite a bit. It doesn't actually unlock it. It just means less battery is used for 10-bit decoding, since the implementation is in the hardware rather than the software.
